Designed as a holiday home for Singapore-based clients, this 1500 sqft, 2 bedroom villa is located in Siolim, North Goa. The name 'Akari' was chosen for its deep meaning and connection to the essence of the home. In Japanese, 'Akari' means light or brightness, symbolizing warmth, illumination and peace.
Every corner of the home is designed to foster connection to nature and self, while exuding a feeling of being personalized and lived in. The home is a heartfelt reflection of the home owners, Tanuj and Nikita's journey, that began in Goa.

While our mood board had a lot of timeless whites and greens, we wanted to infuse a sense of surprise and depth, thereby experimenting a little with colors and textures. Natural materials such as rattan, brick and exposed laterite stone dictate the design language of the space, whereas elements such as the flooring, art and fabric showcase a wide range of patterns and textures, pulling the home towards eclecticism.
As seen here, the primary bedroom is a fairytale of sorts set against a large glass facade seemingly overlooking a forest. The defining element in this space is a bespoke cherry blossom wallpaper on the wardrobe shutters. What truly makes the home special is the lively art, from the custom-made wall pieces as well as personal clicks from the home owners' collection.
